Painting high humid areas, bathrooms

Humid areas are those in which the walls, floor and ceiling periodically are exposed to splashing water or contact with an excessive amount of water vapor. Classification of wet rooms depends on their purpose. For wet rooms include bathrooms, showers , saunas , laundries, drying rooms . In contrast, restrooms and technical facilities of buildings usually do not fall into this category , but can be finished in an identical manner. Before painting Air and surface temperature must not be lower than 45F. Relative humidity should not exceed 80 %. Relative humidity of the wood shall not exceed 15%. Before using , please read the instructions given in the data sheet and product label. Walls and ceilings must be cleaned of dirt and dust, fill cavities and primed ( repaired or all of the surface , the choice of method of priming is dependent on the condition and type of old paint / other material ) For painting we choose products with increased resistance to moisture. In the case of the surface vulnerable to moisture : around bathtubs, sinks, surfaces of walls and ceilings in the laundry room , sauna, steam room and so should finish with a special adhesive backing and also the sinking of fiberglass wallpaper Feelings Moisture Stop , wallpaper, glass fiber and Tasso topcoat Feelings Extra Durable . Primer on the new panels should be applied prior to attaching Before painting primer must be completely dry. Pen and drains panels to paint a thin layer of paint , so that quickly dried up . Color primer should be as close as possible to the color of the topcoat . In the case of wooden surfaces transparent products , the final color of the wood will depend on the type of wood , the hardness and the color and the number of layers . First the film of the test on a small area . Imposing półtransparentne products always lead the brush along the grain so as to obtain a uniform final effect. When painting Stir the paint. If you painted the whole room should start from the ceiling, and only then paint the walls . Poor finishing , or other inconsistent substrates should be primed with Oil-based primer . Roller or brush should be washed after completing painting. For cleaning tools used special products to help get rid of the leftover paint . Dry air inside the enclosure can cause the water-borne paints will be time to dry too quickly during painting. As a result, spots may occur , the difference in gloss or in the extreme case, adhesion is too low. Too high humidity may lengthen the drying time of products to dangerous levels , which in turn can give e.g., discoloration , or differences in gloss . After painting Provide adequate ventilation in the room. The paint must be completely dry. Dry only the outer layer of paint or varnish is not enough. Depending on the product and thickness of the coating , drying can take from several days to four weeks . The coating can be operated smoothly ( conditionally ) after e.g. odor disappears (which may be a completely dry product ) , and target product properties can be obtained after a week to four weeks , depending on temperature and humidity. If you remain a small amount of paint or varnish , tin tightly closed and turn it upside down to seal it . Opened and / or colored product can not be stored for long periods . Liquid residues should take it to the collection of hazardous materials. Empty and dry cans to recycle or waste collection point.
